Hey just felt like I had to say this first:
I might come off as real dumb now, but I do suffer dyscalculia, which doesn't just mean that I can't process numbers, but also value. And for me, it means a lifelong inability to read schematics, schedules and infographics.
So this is why the different things in this game makes no damn sense to me, because I apply a different logic to numbers and values. My logic was:
from sick to cured there are 3 doses, called 'feeling better', 'almost healthy' and 'perfect health', and from sick to dead, there is 'feeling worse', 'almost dead' and 'dead'.
so if I give 1 dose of the medicine I believe the patient need, and I see it makes them 'almost healthy', I know it gave them 2 plusses, and I need 1 more to make them perfectly healthy.
that's it, seriously.
And hey I know not all games are supposed to be available to everyone, it's completely fine by me. It's not quite the same, but just the other day I told someone off in the comments of the Netflix fb page, because they were whining about why this Asian action movie wasn't dubbed in English. And I replied with 'subtitles, try them' - and they got back to me with 'what if people can't read', and I really wanted to be snotty and reply 'they're just shit out of luck, amirite?' - but didn't, because I KNOW there are programs to read the damn subtitles to you, it's called disability aid. But seriously this dude wasn't really on about this because he couldn't read, it was because he didn't want to read subtitles! And that was abundantly clear when you read his other replies to people on that thread.
Dude, 99% of the world relies on subtitles, and that was just one of the most entitled things I have read in a very long time. There are many people in the world who doesn't understand English well enough to watch a English speaking movie without subtitles. Wild, I know. But I happen to know many people who doesn't speak English, or understand English well enough to actually understand the movie without subtitles. The movie theaters here in Denmark have freaking subtitles in Danish for a reason.
And it's just that mindset you know?
And that is why I am saying dude, it's a math game, that is pretty clear; but because I apply different logic to it, it somehow works out anyway, and that is why I made this entry, not because I want to whine about accessibility for everyone, like 'think about the blind, how will they play this game' type deal.
There are stuff that I simply don't understand, and I am not sure why - like the statue, it keeps prompting me to drink laudanum, but it simply can't be done, and also you're just wasting your laudanum. Clearly it's something I missed, even after 4 plays - but I don't understand the warning system, sorry I just don't.
You can find my video of the demo here.
The reason I made this as 'cards' is so you can in theory download the image, and use it. And you wouldn't have to check back on this blog, I mean that is what I would have done.
