This is why we can't have nice things

Right so, I feel like we need to have this discussion. I had it many times over on my personal blog, or on Reddit. But as some might know, I made myself a newyears resolution, being - to remove all that negativity from my life, because it started to really bother me on a daily basis.

And what was it that bothered me?

The completely delulu narrative that some ai is the same as all is ai. Many of us know this is just not true at all, and while the forces against the use of any ai, they want people who incorporate ai in their work to tag their stuff. What people experienced was harassment, leading to people not tagging their creations, and this is in turn seen as deceptive.  As a someone who incorporates ai in my workprocess, I can only say; - you simply can't win with those people, they decided to die on that hill... and I say we let them.

I unsubbed from any and all people who expressed a hostile or negative opinion on people who use ai in their workprocess, - and I do mean ALL, even people I had been subscribed to for ages, and whose content I actually used to enjoy. I just can't see past the fact they are blindly following the cult of 'human art', without questioning it.

Given many of the creators probably does express these opinions, not because they mean them, but because they feel like they have to say it, due to pressure from the salty crowd, which I know is very persistent and loud. But to me it doesn't matter, because I dislike idiots just as much as I dislike sheep.

And honestly why would I want to follow someone who hates what I do?

Fuck that!

It bothers  me that people who use text to speech, or ai images in a video, is grouped up with content farms, and scams.

And I can only speak for myself, but I am neither a scammer or a content farm, I just use AI to create some videos, because I like it like that. But it's still me, a person, - who is making the videos. There is no way you can convince me it's lower effort to create a video like this;

Than to turn on your camera and bitch about something from Reddit, or booktok. Seriously get off your high horse for a moment. People who make AI videos like the one I have above here, we put just as much thought into the video as the next person, we just use different media.

And having said that, I see those shit AI channels too, and I don't want to see their videos either, but then again, there are many type videos I don't care for. So my point is; please don't fucking box actual creators using AI up with those content farms; - we are not.

I know I said it in another entry here, but I remember there was this very wholesome channel where the creator defended her use of text to speech over gameplay of some game that looked like portal. And when I checked back some months later, the channel was deleted. I found out on Reddit, the poor creator got massive fucking hate for a positive AI video.

What the fuck.

Is that where we are at? Youtube offers several AI options to creators, and the creators chose to fucking bully people who use them off the platform?

Leave people the fuck alone, if you don't like anything AI, click the 'don't show me this channel' and move along.

I make graphics for indie creators, I do so using AI and digital editing, - I promise you more than 80 percent of the videos you see on your feed, have a thumbnail made with the use of components of AI. Also many story driven channels they make an AI with their own voice, so they can keep up the upload schedule, and no one is the wiser.

It's pretty smart really, this means the narrator can have another team member make the video, if they are on holiday, or whatever. Is that AI? sure it is, but it's still a model trained on a narrator's voice.

Come on, do you really think all the audio books you listen to is read by a person in a soft chair at a fireplace? No, it's an AI trained with someone's voice, and that someone is paid every time an audiobook is recorded.

So stop fucking coming after people who for one reason or another use AI in their videos! It is the most elitist, abelist bullshit ever, - and you don't even stop and think, - no you just want to be right, and demonise people who use ai for whatever reason.  Dude an ai thumbnail doesn't make the fucking video ai, it's as simple as that.

Sorry I just had to rant, because I caught a glimpse of the youtube creator subreddit, and it's brutal. I feel so damn sorry for those people who make AI videos and ask for advice, unknowing they will be hardcore cancelled for even mentioning the word in a positive setting.  I mean, dude many of those new creators make pretty shitty videos, not gonna lie. But still, you don't have to set them on fire and yeet them off stage.
